It involves multi-disciplinary and inter-related section\nviz. Soil Survey, Meteorology, Soil Testing, Cartography, Remote Sensing and\nLand Use Planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Soil\nSurvey (Soil Testing):<\/strong> During 2017, training\nprogramme on Soil Sample Collection and Analysis was conducted for JSCO and Field\nAssistants from three (3) districts viz. Kohima, Phek &amp; Mon. Another\nweeklong training programme was attended by two (2) officers on \u201cTechniques of\nSoil Analysis for Mapping &amp; Fertility Evaluation\u201d at Soil &amp; Land Use\nSurvey of India, Kolkata. Besides this, testing for soil fertility status for\nvarious agencies and research scholars were also carried out.<\/li><li><strong>Meteorology:<\/strong>\nThe meteorological data received by the Department from the 17 Meteorological\nobservatories located at different altitudes of the state are being used not\nonly by the land user departments but also by the media viz. Doordarshan and\nlocal news dailies. The updated information on daily weather conditions is also\navailable online at <a href=\"http:\/\/wisngl.nic.genwis\/genmonth.asp\"><em>http:\/\/wisngl.nic.genwis\/genmonth.asp<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/li><li><strong>Remote\nSensing<\/strong>: The application of Remote Sensing\nTechnology is indispensible in recent times in acquiring latest information on\nthe earth\u2019s surface and its resources.
